Introduction to Kineski Kutak "China Corner"

Kineski Kutak "China Corner" was formerly the Chinese Department of Akademija Oxford "Oxford College". The Chinese Department of Oxford College was established in June 2020. The main concept of the establishment of the Chinese Department is to comply with the "Belt and Road" idea proposed by President Xi, spread Chinese culture in Serbia, and let more and more Serbian citizens understand Chinese, art, and historical culture. At the same time, it also helps Chinese in Serbia to have a deeper understanding and learn the Serbian language and culture, and promote the maintenance and development of friendship between the peoples of China and Serbia. With the deepening of China-Serbia relations, Serbian citizens have an increasingly strong desire to learn Chinese. At the same time, Chinese compatriots who have lived in Serbia for a long time also urgently need to learn the language to meet the needs of work and life in Serbia.

Since its establishment in 2020, more than 500 Chinese friends have learned Serbian and English in our department, and more than 100 Serbs have learned Chinese. A considerable number of students have participated in and passed the official Serbian language proficiency test and the Chinese proficiency test of the Confucius Institute, making certain contributions to the language communication, mutual cooperation and exchange of resources between the Chinese and Serbian people.

In August 2021, Bank of China (Serbia) Co., Ltd. signed a cooperation agreement with our department. Adhering to the purpose of providing professional and high-quality language training services to Chinese and Serbian enterprises, promoting employees of the two countries in the enterprises to better understand and integrate each other's traditions and cultures, thereby promoting exchanges and development between China and Serbia in culture and various fields.

In May 2024, when President Xi visited Serbia, our school, as a member of the China-Serbia language and culture communication, accepted an interview with the Serbian media euronews. Several students were lucky enough to be selected as interviewees and were interviewed in Serbia (right picture). Students who graduate from our school will study, live, work and do business in Serbia in the future, and continue to contribute to the China-Serbia relations and China-Serbia cultural exchanges.

On October 15, 2024, our school was recognized by the Confucius Institute at the University of Belgrade and officially signed a cooperation agreement with the Confucius Institute at Belgrade. This is one of the most important cooperation projects of our school. Our school will work with the Confucius Institute to promote the Chinese and Serbian language and culture.

Teaching advantages

Due to the differences in logical structure between Chinese and Serbian and other European languages, Chinese people often encounter various bottlenecks when learning foreign languages, but it is difficult to find appropriate solutions. In addition, most language training schools on the market teach in English, which increases the difficulty of learning a new language for Chinese people with weak English foundation.

In response to this situation, our teaching team has conducted in-depth research and developed teaching materials to create a teaching system specifically for Chinese people to learn foreign languages. This system transforms the grammatical structure of Serbian and other languages into a logic that conforms to Chinese thinking, that is, “formats” the language. By systematically summarizing and summarizing foreign language grammar and teaching in detail according to a clear grammatical context, Chinese learners can understand intuitively, think clearly, and proceed step by step, thus breaking the stereotype that “Serbian is difficult to learn.”

We are the only professional language school in the Balkan Peninsula that teaches foreign languages in Chinese. Our teaching team is not only able to communicate fluently in Chinese, but also has a deep understanding of Chinese culture and history. They can find resonance with Chinese students in the classroom, making the learning process more friendly and immersive.
